Of Strength, Forgiveness, and more Malarkey! #MyFriendAlexa

Posted on 1st October 2021 by Mayuri

*Malarkey – Nonsense

I love Quotes. They have the ability to inspire you, change your perspective, enlighten you and even enrich your life. Which is why I love Quotes. Not all of them though. let me tell you why.

‘Strong women wear their pain like they wear stilettos. No matter how much it hurts, all you see is the beauty of it’.

‘A strong woman loves, forgives, walks away, let’s go, tries again, and preserves – no matter what life throws at her.’

Wait, what?!

I mean what exactly is the idea we are being given or supposed to be getting via these? The message these quotes seem to share is that one should keep forgiving people as one smiles through their pain. Why should one do that, is what I want to know.

Forgiveness is a word that carries a lot of weight. It takes years, if not a lifetime, to learn to forgive. Forgiveness can only come from a soul that has forgiven itself and has healed itself.

Maybe some people can find it easy to forgive. What about those who can’t? If someone can’t find it easy to forgive are they supposed to think that they are weak, or maybe even flawed.

Strength-Forgiveness-Malarkey-Sirimiri

‘True strength is when you have a lot to cry about, but you choose to smile and take another step forward.’

Why exactly is this suppression of feelings being called strength here? Are you supposed to be channeling ‘The Joker’ from Batman, when asked to suppress your grief and show up with a smile? We all know how THAT panned out, don’t we now!

It takes immense courage to sit with your grief.  To let out your pain through tears. A good cry makes you feel better, it makes your problems seem lighter. I always believe that a good cry clears up your vision, literally and metamorphically. Let it out, and the clear vision you get will help you see the path you must choose, to take that next step forward.

Feelings, and to an extent reactions, are custom built. it is almost impossible for different people to react the same or feel the same.

Don’t let the media, or anyone else, decide what you should feel, or shouldn’t. Don’t be under the pressure to react in a politically correct manner. Your feelings are your own, as are your reactions to them.

Laugh when you want to. Cry if you should. Forgiving is totally your choice and your business. Strength is what we all have, which is why we’ve got so far, haven’t we?

More power to you!

So deep. And so true. Your post gave me new insights on writing and reading quotes from now onwards. I am also a quote lover and I so love to write quotes. They have some power to change our mindset, only if we put them into practice.

Lovely post. You are absolutely right. No one should decide how you should feel. And I am sick and tired of be strong. We all deal with things in our own way.

Everyone has a different way to get out their feelings, what works for one may not work for another. As you said, I have also learnt one thing getting it out is important. What others think is immaterial, they won’t come to stand by you always, you have to deal with it yourself.

Very well written. I agree with the second part completely – own how you feel, sit with your thoughts and never suppress it .

However, while agreeing with the idea that not everyone can forgive easily, I feel that our hard life lesson is To know that – No matter how hard it is to forgive, forgiving is the first step towards healing. We forgive to stop fixating on questions and unanswered questions our brain imposes for any unpleasant situation. When we stop doing that, when we forgive, it’s easier to let go. 🙂

I am sick and tired of everyone telling us how to live our lives. Plus I loved the word used, malarkey!

Gah!! These quotes! Apparently we are supposed to be saints.

Only we get to decide how we want to feel and react. Another powerful piece by you, Mayuri.

Completely agree with you, Mayuri! Everyone is different. Some can forgive easily, some can’t. There is no right or wrong way to grieve and move on in life. We should stop glorifying being martyrs and demonising those who aren’t and express their thoughts freely. #MyFriendAlexa #TinasPicks

A very interesting read. In fact I wrote an entire article on why we should stop calling them ‘good’ and ‘bad’ emotions because allowing yourself to feel is the greatest strength you can have.

I think we should cry when we want to but not let the situation upset your whole life.
