No Dairy, Sugarfree Ice-cream : Recipe included

Posted on 16 October 20167 June 2018 By Mayuri Sharrma

Top post on IndiBlogger, the biggest community of Indian Bloggers

I have a sweet-tooth, with a special weakness for Ice-creams. With Summer making us sweat I crave for a scoop of Ice-cream often.

But we know that eating Ice-creams too often is not such a great idea, for your weighing scale. A few years ago when I came across this recipe for ‘ice-cream’ I was skeptical, and though I did save the recipe I never tried it out.

Till I has some slightly over ripe Bananas on hand and didn’t know what to do with them.

This recipe has been a favourite since then, with seasonal fruits like Mango, Strawberry and Chickoo’s being added to it, and experimenting with various Fruit Crushes/Sauces and even Jams. The recipe is really simple and here I share step by step pictorial instructions. Hope you try the recipe and enjoy it too!

Slightly over ripe Bananas work best. You could choose the regular Bananas or the small (Elaichi) ones, which have fewer calories compared to the regular ones.

Ingredients:

Slightly over ripe Bananas. I use the small Elaichi / Yelakki Bananas. You could use regular Bananas too.

Your imagination:)

Method:

Explained below

1)Peel, chop and freeze Bananas overnight, in an airtight container.

2) Remove from freezer, and put the frozen pieces in to a mixie/ blender. Add flavor(s) of choice. I added Salted Caramel Sauce and a dollop of Peanut Butter here.

3) Blitz in the blender, until smooth. It will take time to blend, as the bananas are frozen hard.

4) Transfer the blended puree to an airtight container.

5) Freeze overnight, or until set.

6) Scoop out and garnish as desired.

If the Bananas used are not naturally sweet, I add a dash of honey while blending them. Add fresh fruits with the bananas while blending, to get a dual flavour. Or add the fruits as a garnish.

Let your taste buds and imagination guide you as you flavor this ‘ice cream’. Enjoy!
