Without-You-Preethi-Sirimiri-Review

Pages: 200

Genre: Fiction. Romance. Chicklit.

Available in: Paperback and E-Book format.

The Plot:

Ananya is a final year Engineering student vacationing in her Grandmother’s house in the picturesque village called Sreepuram.

This is where she finally sets her eyes on Dr Arjun whom she has heard praises galore from her Grandmother. Not surprisingly, it is love at first sight for Ananya. The perspective Grandmother plays cupid and Ananya soon finds out that Arjun reciprocates her feelings and soon they are a couple. Their bliss is short lived though as Arjun’s mother disapproves of their relationship and her cruel words and actions that follow split up the couple.

A devastated Ananya attempts suicide. Saved in the nick of time, chastened and recovered Ananya gathers up the broken pieces of her self-respect and attempts to move on, with memories of Arjun coming back to haunt her at every step. After getting her degree Ananya moves to a new country, to a new job hoping to start afresh.

Till she meets Arjun again.

What will Ananya do now? What will be the fate of the 2 ex-lovers?

Read Without You by Preethi Venugopala to find out for yourself.

My Thoughts:

The beautiful cover of author Preethi Venugopala’s debut book caught my attention first. A lone woman seemingly caught up in a swirl, of colours, intrigued me.

Love stories are classics everyone identifies with. We all have our own or dream of one. There is only so much you can do to twist the plot of a love story, so what is important is how it is written.

Preethi is a confident writer and her writing style is fresh, breezy and catchy. The characters are well etched helping the reader picture them. Even though I had made my guesses about the plot and how it would end, her writing captivated me and kept me going, wanting more.

What didn’t work for me was one of the two surprises thrown in for good measure, an attempt to make the story a tad different from the rest. The Col Nair angle takes away from the story rather than adding to it.

It is heartening to see fellow bloggers taking the leap to graduate to becoming successful published authors, while a lot of us dream about it happening someday. It takes a lot of hard work and courage to write a book, publish it and put it out there. Preethi has proved her mettle as I see Without You on the best-selling chart ever so often, a commendable feat. The few kinks in the writing that I noticed are are bound to be erased by the pen of experience.

I loved reading Without You and finished it in 2 hours. More power to your pen, Preethi. Looking forward to reading more from you.

***** 3 Stars to Without You.

My rating chart;

*Use it as a doorstop.
**Read it if you have nothing better to do.
***You will like it if you like this particular genre.
****Must read!
*****What! You haven’t read it YET ?!

Sounds like an interesting book and very dramatic. I hope that Ananya found her heart’s desire, whether it was that man or someone else.
