Of Sabr, Shukr and 2021

Posted on 26 December 202112 January 2022 By Mayuri Sharrma

Sabr (patience)

Shukr (gratitude)

Every time we come close to a year ending we find ourselves wondering, ‘Where did the year go?’.

52 weeks, 365 days and countless hours and moments of a year were spent making memories, learning and sometimes unlearning. Weeping, smiling, meeting, parting, regretting.

Yet, our memory is so fickle that we oftentimes forget all that the passing year gifted us with. Many years together make up a lifetime. You can’t stop time. By the time you learn to value it, it has already escaped your grasp.

Of Sabr, Shukr _ 2021_sirimiri

Life can become an endless cycle of learning, till we pause and decide to put all that we have learnt over time to use. As if we don’t our learnings fast become redundant lessons that serve no purpose any longer.

Each time life throws a curveball let sabr teach you the lesson you were meant to learn from it. Apply that lesson the next time you find yourself likely to repeat the same mistake.

Each time you reach a conclusion or learn from your mistakes learn to give shukr for it.

2021 reiterated the lesson I have learnt many times over but have chosen to ignore. I learnt that when I dim my light I am lost. It is my light that shines and shows me the way in my darkest times and dimming it or worse snuffing it out has only made me lose my way. Sabr, in all the puzzling and painful times I confronted taught me this lesson I gave shukr for.

I end 2021 with a contented heart. Along with Sabr and Shukr I have learnt to have Shraddha (faith) in and give Sajda (bow my head down) to the Universe and its mysterious ways.

I wish you 365 days of pure joy, 52 weeks of health and happiness and a year that is the beginning of many wonderful years to follow!

Slainte, 2022!

A Recipe for Audacity

Posted on 30 June 202530 June 2025

They say confidence is quiet and insecurity is loud. But Audacity? Audacity is about not stopping to ask for permission and taking ownership of your space. So, you want to be audacious? Not loud. Not rude. Not “in-your-face.” But the audacious one who walks into a room and doesn’t need to…

Wow, what a beautiful piece. Mayuri, I really liked how you choose Sabr and Shukr in your life, and how you gracefully walk in life with them. Sharddha and Sajda to the universe and its magic and miracles are something I am continuously learning. May your inner light light never dims and your shine brighten others lives more and more in the coming years. Lots of love and light to your ways. Wishing you a year filled with peace, purpose, and prosperity. Advanced Happy New Year 2022.

You know we can say a lot of things about life but in the end it all boils down to these two words primarily.. patience and gratitude.. they give you the strength to face tough times, they make you more grounded with time and they let you understand your very own self as you grow.. thank you for reminding this again.. best wishes for the new year…

Such a beautiful thought Mayuri . Yes sabr and shukr are two most amazing powerful emotion that can bring a huge change in our overall personality and wellbeing. In this fast pace world, where no one has time to take a pause and think for a moment, these two things can make a difference for good. Wishing you and your family a very happy new year.
