The main ritual of that day is fasting throughout the day and gathering in a group, dressed up in all their finery to pray for their husband’s well being. Wearing gorgeous clothes is an important part of this celebration. Comfort and looking good go hand in hand on any festive occasion and Karwa Chauth is no different.

The Saree

Red is a colour synonymous with Karwa Chauth. A red and gold combination is always a hit. You can wear a red plain print, bordered with red and gold, adding shine to the plain red. Team it up with an attractive blouse. To really impress, wear your red matched with a color that stresses on the red. Contrast it with a blue or green maybe as a border or on the pallu and wear a blouse in the contrast color. All eyes are sure to be on you. There is no binding that your Karwa Chauth saree should have to be in red. You can choose any color that does not break the norm, but makes you look different from everybody else. You also have a choice of the material. You can try out a georgette saree because of its flattering fall, or you can pick a red Banarasi silk saree if you are keen on something heavy. If you are the kind who wants to look really simple, then go for a chiffon saree. You can keep your color choice of red.  On a day when you are fasting, comfort should be a priority.

Layered Anarkali suits are a good idea too. They come in basic two layers or even more. Get it designed to suit your height. Get the right distances between layers to show off your height and avoid distances if you are too skinny. Anarkali Salwar suits are traditionally popular among ethnic wear. A three-piece Anarkali suit, which is supposedly inspired by Anarkali the lover of Salim in the Mughal era is comfortable, timeless and popular. They are now designed in a variety with a    number of new slits, patterns, and designs. If you want to keep it simple, choose one with a broad flare to perfect your look. Go modern with off-shoulder neckline and cold shoulder sleeves. Modern women are in love with these little fashion hacks which not only make them look glamorous but allow modernity in ethnicity. Another smart addition to your ward would be Sharara suits, especially if you are not comfortable wearing a lehenga or a saree. You can emphasize this look with ethnic jhumki or chandbalis.
