#QuotedStories with #ThursdayTree Love – Week 2

“There are no wrong turnings. Only paths we had not known we were meant to walk.”
Guy Gavriel Kay

A long time ago I undertook a professional Baking Course. It was an extensive course and I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it. I baked Fresh Cream Cakes, Tea Cakes, Croissants, Calzones, Swiss Rolls and every evening I baked fresh loaves of Bread for breakfast the next day. I would not be exaggerating if I said you name it and I baked it.

Since I wanted to practice I baked often and friends and relatives bore the brunt of the calories I plied them with. They were more than thrilled of course and they shared my baked delights with others. Very soon orders began trickling in. At first I was amused, and delivered for the lowest price imaginable. As the orders increased, I was advised to start ‘charging decently’ Before I knew it I was neck deep in orders and had hijacked Mum’s kitchen and staff.

My friends and siblings suggested I hire a place and some staff of my own and go professional in the right way. I wasn’t interested. It took some convincing on their path before I agreed and ‘Cakewalk by Mayuri’ was born. The place and staff were hired, Visiting Cards and the Menu were printed and stocks were ordered. Everything was in place, before I left for an annual holiday.

On that very holiday I accompanied a friend for her Tarot Reading and I was so fascinated by it that I had a Reading of my own AND stayed back to learn Tarot. The rest is history and I am a Tarot Card Reader for 13 years now 😀

Friends, family and Clients still tell me that they rue the holiday I took, which derailed my Baking plans and set me on another path. Me, I think otherwise. I was meant for Tarot Reading to choose me, and it did.

  1. I am so thrilled to read your Story Mayuri. Certainly, life has its own plans for us. So remarkable of you to easily shift to a new Life otherwise resisting change. Thanks for linking with #QuotedStories

  2. Mayuri Nidigallu Natasha

I would say Cake Walk with Mayuri could be still re-ignited as you have a gourmet streak to your May. But then I guess it’s about following our passion and when we do what we love doing the most, life becomes a cake walk in itself.

    More power to you!

    1. That part about following your passion is so true, Natz. Thanks for reading:)

  3. Wow! Really? That’s so amazing. I think you could have pursued both – isn’t it? I am glad you are pursuing your passion but I am sure the baking love is also alive 🙂
Thanks for linking up with Thursday Tree Love.

  4. Oh wow! It’s amazing how life works out. The things you never thought you’d be doing and end up doing exactly what you are meant for!
Would love to get tarot reading done for myself from you sometimes!!

  5. Inspiring Mayuri. I love getting my hands on many activities but only one thing interests me on long term which is software testing. I think, its my passion to be a critic on some one’s creation 🙂

  6. Life finds you or you find life .Either way, life should be meaningful and make us happy. After everything, we do what happens is destiny.Cakewalk sounds perfect. Why can’t the tarot reader have customized cakes too?I would order one in a jiffy!

  7. Seriously?? And I didn’t even know that? Cakewalk would have been great too M. you can have both – bake it and eat it too!

  8. Am glad you found your calling! ❤ So nice to read your story, Mayuri. Baking cakes, tarot reading, both must be a cakewalk for you, now! That photo is beautiful! So dreamy!

  9. Hey, I too have taken up baking! Although, I haven’t done a course in it, just learnt it from my exceptionally talented baker cousin. And, I am so interested in taking it further. Am keeping fingers crossed!
Loved your story and also the tree and the shady haven! Peaceful and tranquil..the two words to describe it the best!

  10. Life has its own ways of showing us the path which we least expect. Its really intriguing to read your story.
