Rajiv stood by his office window which showcased his favourite city. He looked down at the paper in his hand. The most awaited letter was here, confirming his acceptance to a top notch University. This had been his dream ever since he could remember.
A foolish dream, his family and fellow villagers mocked as he was growing up.
An ambitious dream, his fellow students acknowledged.
A dream that had surpassed it’s coming to reality time, his colleagues reminded him.
Here he was, letter in hand.
Ageing parents. A pregnant wife. A new promotion at work. All requiring his attention, his presence.
He looked down at the city, at the crossroad spread symmetrically beneath him.
Which direction should he take, he asked himself again?
As he saw the cars and truck below following their paths through and around the crossroad confidently he made up his mind. He would go to University.

Ph God what a tough choice to make, university versus, a pregnant wife versus family!!!! Are we all often caught in a situation such as this???
When one follows the calling of the heart, the path ahead may appear difficult. It leads to a happy ending for sure!
So happy that he followed his heart. More power to following one’s dreams.

That was a tricky decision so glad he followed his heart. (On a separate note I saw the pic on twitter and decided I will call my story “Corssoroads” and lo! I see thats what your story is titled. This is a lovely co incidence.
Oh geez. Indeed a tough choice to make. But, I agree, following one’s heart may seem a difficult road that time, but it reaps sweet benefits in the future, not just for us but everyone associated with us. I’m sure his wife would understand. 🙂 (Can relate to it, coz we are kind of at crossroads. Thankfully not a country switch, but maybe city switch. That too in the very last days. Phew! Hoping for the best.)
