Give & Take #WoWe Week 6

Posted on 17 July 20196 August 2019 by Mayuri Sharrma

WoWe-Week-Sirimiri-give-take

‘A Philanthropist at 21.’

‘Youngest heiress in the world wills her fortune away.’

‘The Altruism of Adele.’

On her 21st Birthday, this sole heiress to an unimaginable fortune had inherited it all. Only to lose it within 24 hours, thanks to having willed it away by prior arrangement with her lawyer.

Footage of the porcelain doll like Adele walking away from the stunning mansion she grew up in was all over the media. Clad in jeans and a sweatshirt, a backpack was all she carried with her. While most stared open-mouthed, before they couldn’t stop talking about it, the ones below her on the list of the richest people in the world heaved a sigh of relief, grateful for the bump up.

Why did she give it? Where was she going?

Adele Schwarz came from a family of powerful Germans, a generation of which had made their presence felt in Auschwitz and Birkenau. While they had gained respect due to their lineage, Adele has lost hers for them, and everything that came with it.

She wowed to erase the big wrongs done, with small rights. This fortune being given away, to Jewish Schools and Entrepreneurs establishments, was just a start.

It takes huge courage and determination to give up a position and inheritance of that stature. We need more poeple like Adele. (I hope I understood the story right.)

Giving away such an inheritance for something noble isn’t easy. Kudos to her for trying to correct the wrongs of her ancestors.
