‘What did the others have to say about his outburst?’ asked Anju as she stirred sugar into her tea.

‘Nothing at all.’ replied Priya, getting herself a cup.

‘How about Vaishali?’ asked Anju.

‘She pretended we were invisible.’ replied Jahnvi.

‘He called us ‘you feminists!’ exclaimed Priya.

‘He also shook his finger at us when he said it.’ Jhanvi rolled her eyes.

‘How dare you girls think you’ll deserve what you asked for!’ were his words.’ added Sunila.

‘We are ‘corrupting the others’ apparently!’ Minal joined Jhanvi in the eye rolling.

The rain fell steadily and there was silence as the girls seemed lost in thought. They looked at each other, unsaid words hovering in the air.
