Colour

Posted on 8 September 20169 September 2016 By Deliciously Alive
I came across a quiz on facebook. The question asked was ‘What colour defines you’.
I took the quiz and the answer was ‘Red’ which happens to be my favourite colour.
But the question, ‘What colour defines you’ stayed in my mind, and inspired a blog post πŸ™‚

Can one colour define you?
Does one colour define you?

I wouldn’t agree.
Emotions and feelings within us are momentary and ever-changing and just as we keep evolving so does our choice of colour.

I would have to say β€˜White’ is me, and no not the β€˜White’ you are thinking of.

I wonder how many people are aware that White is an amalgamation of all colours. When the colour wheel is spun, the only colour you see is White.

So at times…

I am the Crimson of passion
The calm of Blue
The abundance of Green
Yellow when all things come through
I am the Black of fear
The solid assurance of Brown
I am the Pink of a Blush
Though at Orange I have always frowned

Strangely, I have never associated my most favourite colour, Red, with its conventional adjectives like aggression, anger, danger. I always associate it with being alive, being joyous, passionate, and a celebration!

I have noticed my choice of colour does change with the phase I am going through.
Right now my colour is Silver.
Think Silver and Quicksilver comes to mind.
Silver is shimmering, alive, arousing curiosity, mysterious, always moving, never still.
It’s not surprising that your choice of colour says a lot about you!

So what would be your colour? Share?

Why choosing to be a Good Girl is a Bad Choice

Posted on 6 June 20219 February 2025

My earliest memory of a compliment is being patted on the head, smiled at, and called a β€˜Good Girl.’ I have no recollection of when it was or what I may have done to earn it; all I remember is that it felt very nice to hear myself being addressed…

I like the way you've amalgamated so many colours into your post and your personality πŸ™‚ Not that I am surprised. You're a very multi-faceted personality.

Me? Ah, I am a mystery. No colour can define me πŸ˜‰

Its always said colors are a sort of reflection of our moods and myriad shades of our personality. Intrestingly , we all do have varied preferences of colour across our lifetimes. As a young kids, for me it was always pink, dont quite understand why, then I migrated to brighter shades of red and yellow. And have now settled down into more gloomy shades of greys and blues.. Hmmm probably a reflection of a maturing personality?????

Wow! Mayuri, I loved how you used every colour to express your different emotions! I have never thought about colours in this way.
There are some colours I relate with food and some with nature! Maybe coz I am a nature lover and a chocolate lover! Dark chocolate being the fav sinfood and aquamarine blue for the beaches I so love are my all time favourites. And also black, for the night which is my most loved time of the day.

Oh this post reminds me of my favourite quote . Of how people are like colour boxes. Some have some shades missing, some worn out and some come across as the entire package – 24 colours – bright and shiny . So I like my people to have various shades – when they talk , when they right and how they appear online and offline..
Looks like you share my views too. Interesting take Mayuri..

I loved how you shared about white and then how each one of us had got the traits of each color. It's so true.
I love blue. Absolutely! But give me any color and I love it. More than that I loved finding how nature gives us the many shades.

Now that’s an interesting question. True white is the amalgamation of all colours and yet we think it as pure, untouched. A color which is not color. I think I am a strange mix of yellow, pink and orange … I somehow feel that is what would resonate with me πŸ˜€

Having red as your favorite color identifies you as extroverted and optimistic, courageous and confident. With a favorite color red, you like to be the center of attention – in fact all reds crave attention – other people are drawn to the vitality and sense of excitement you emit. You do not procrastinate – you never put off until tomorrow what you can do today. Lovers of red are probably not particularly spiritual or religious – however if you do participate in religious activities it is the physical customs and rituals that you are drawn to. Hence I connect with color RED.

Mayuri, I am loving your posts more and more! You know I have quoted this in my About Me: How can people have favorites when it comes to colors? I quite agree with you that how you feel at the moment, affects your color choice. And honestly, I love all colors, no favorites for me….turquoise today, olive green tomorrow, tomato red the day after….!!

What I find even more intriguing is how these colors got associated with different feelings. Even more mysterious is how these colors are interpreted in different cultures. In European countries, white is associated with purity. In India, it is considered colorless (contrary to its reality of being a mix of all the colors :D), emotionless. Associated with widowhood and sadness. Funny, no?
