How playing Online Games helps me Offline

Posted on 11 August 202220 August 2025 By Mayuri Sharrma

Everyone has their own way of untangling the crossed wires of their mind. My way happens to be playing online games.

When I hit a mental block, or feel too overwhelmed by more thoughts and ideas than my brain can handle, or when I just need to destress my go-to is online games.

So, just how does playing online games help me and help me offline too, you wonder? Read on to find out.

Playing online games helps me focus;

This sentence may sound strange but playing online games truly helps me focus. How so? The thing is when I am playing a game online, I forget all the issues and details that don’t matter, as all my attention and energy are reserved for the game at hand.

For instance, I am teaching myself to play Solitaire these days. Doing so gives me something to look forward to at the end of the day. And when I am learning the ropes and playing the game I am so focused on the task at hand that every other trivial matter just fades away.

I must also add that the fact that the site where I am learning is ad-free and pop-up-free, and also free. I love the simple and detailed instructions it has on how to play the games, which helps me focus even better.

Playing games had taught me never to give up;

Patience was never one of my virtues as I was growing up. A new thing caught my interest for a little while before it was quickly replaced by another. I got bored easily and gave up equally quickly as well. Reading was a habit that taught me to hold onto things till they reached their natural end. This is why I never discard any book I am reading halfway, even though it may be the most uninteresting one!

Similarly, Tetris was the first Online game I started playing, and it taught me to not give up when things were not going my way. Instead, like reading, it taught me to persevere till the end, till I finished one level so that I could move to the next.

I have made up my mind to master Solitaire and I am patiently following the helpful instructions on the site step by step.

There is always another way, is another lesson;

As humans we find our comfort zones and stick to them, little realizing that rarely does any change happen when you are comfortable. Playing Solitaire seemed simple, till I started learning to. Though I must confess that learning it through trial and error has made me realize that there are many other ways to get something done than just ‘my way’. It has also made me pause to question whether my way is truly the easiest, or best way, or if there are other ways I should explore to learn from.

Playing Online Games is my uninterrupted ‘me time’ ;

When I am playing a game online, it is just me and my game. No other interruptions at all. On the site that I am on recently, there are no ads popping up either, to interrupt the flow of the game and disturb me! So this uninterrupted time is what I enjoy a lot! I am not only learning a new game, but I am also learning to think differently too.  With so many different versions of Solitaire on the site, I can’t wait to move to learn another one, after I master this!

Do you play online games? If yes, which ones are your favorites? If not, why not? I am curious to know your answers to both, so do share in comments.
