Dal Bread : A one pot meal

- 2 Pavs or 4-5 slices of Bread (White or Brown, you could use either)
- 1 cup cooked Dal
- ½ cup Water
- 1/s Tsp Oil
- 1 Tsp, or to taste, Lime Juice
- ½ Tsp, or to taste, Red Chilly Powder
- ½ Tsp, or to taste, Haldi or Turmeric Powder
- 2 Green Chillies, slit
- 5-6 curry leaves
- Salt, to taste.
- For the Garnishing:
- ½ a medium sized Onion, Chopped fine.
- 1 small Green Chilly, chopped fine.
- Coriander Leaves, washed and chopped fine.
- Heat the oil in a pan.
- Slip in the green chillies and curry leaves and saute for a bit.
- Add the cooked Dal to it along with the water.
- Mix well till your Dal is a watery consistency. If it is still thick you could add a little more water.
- Add the Red Chilly Powder, Haldi and Salt and mix well.
- Once the Dal starts boiling, lower the flame and add the Lime Juice and give it a good stir.
- Rip the bread roughly into small pieces and add to the boiling Dal.
- Mix well and keep boiling on a medium flame till the Bread starts absorbing the Dal and the mixture starts thickening.
- Let it cook till the bread is soaked with the Dal and the mixture is thick.
- Switch off the flame,garnish with the onions, chillies, chopped coriander and a dash of lemon juice and serve hot.
- If calories don't count or you are in an indulgent mood, top the garnishing with any spicy and savory mixture , like Chivda, at hand.
