Genre: Short Stories. Fiction

The Plot: 10 short stories. Set in different locations, countries, settings and time periods. They all have one thing in common though, emotions. No matter who we may be, no matter how much we may think we are in control of ourselves, life has a way of surprising you and kindling emotions you may never realised you could feel.Earthen_Angels_Sarbari_Sirimiri

My Thoughts: Short stories are one of my personal favourite genres. A book of short stories holds varied flavours of life, just like Earthen Angels by Sarbari Chowdhury does. Angels come into your lives in different forms, and most of them unexpected ones. That is the theme of this book.

The Gift is a story of a loving couple. It will warm your heart and then wrench it.

Leave No One Behind, will show you yet another compassionate side, and the troubled side no one talks about, of our armed forces.

Angel will leave you with a lesson that a person must never be judged by their outward appearance.

Memories shows us that we can sometimes live a future holding on to the comfort a past brings.

Mirror, is a naughty play of words with an end that will leave you smiling.

The Unwanted, gives ‘adoption’ a new meaning.

Time Warp, is a story of how geography may change, but mindsets don’t necessarily change with it.

The Good Father, will leave you guessing if what you read was fact, or fiction?

Lottery, is a lesson that sometimes making someone else’s dream come through is the best thing you could do.

Oh Brother! The surprise twist in the tale will leave you shocked, and smiling.

Sarbari writes from the heart. Her writing is smooth and simple. It draws you in and keeps you hooked. Her stories are engrossing and manage to touch your heart.

  1. I love reading short stories as they are fast paced with a crisp plot and give gratification that is quick. Earthen Angels is right up my alley, will check it out. Thanks for sharing!

  2. Short stories have their own charm and are also a real test of a writer, to spin a story in few words and keep it riveting and relevant is really tough.I take it that Sarbari Chowdhury has done a good job of writing ‘Earthen Angels ‘.

  3. I’m so impressed with this short story book and more so the presence of angels in different ways in varied lives. I found “leave no one behind” as the most intriguing.
