Honey, I Lost All Our Money!

Learnings of a Lifetime in Personal Finance by Anil Rego

Pages: 150

Genre: Finance. Business. Investment.

Available in: Hardcover

The Plot: Money is a strange word. We all want it, we all want to make it, but we refrain from being more informed about it. In the life cycle of a human, being everyone who has made money has most probably lost it as some point too.

Money, and everything related to it, is the core essence of this book.

Written in a story form, the protagonist of this story is Sunil. He learns about money at a young age, thanks to his wise parents. As he grows older Sunil keeps updating his lessons even as he updates his financial portfolio. Playing safe ensures a comfortable financial cushioning, till one reckless move and over confident decision makes him loose it all.

What does Sunil do? What would you do? This book makes you think.

My Thoughts: Honey, I Lost All Our Money is Anil Regos debut book. Anil is an Investment Professional, Entrepreneur and Writer. He founded Right Horizons, a wealth advisory firm, 15 years ago. A well respected name in the financial space, his views, articles and interviews are featured across various media.

It is easy to identify with the protagonist Sunil, as most of us go through similar situations, and probably challenges, like he does. The language is simple, and the flow of the writing keeps you hooked. Illustrations, anecdotes and neatly segregated chapters make reading it a pleasure.

Anil uses his rich professional experience to simplify, what are usually complicated, financial terms for the reader. Reading the book is like listening to a wise friend /relative.

This book would be a great read for students, young professionals or anyone who wishes to learn how to manage their money better.

What made me pick up this book? The title, for one! A clever title that makes you want to know more. Secondly, the only way I have ever saved money is by not spending it. For a while now I have been trying to read up and educate myself on ways to invest my money so that it grows and works for me. Reading this book was a first, big, step in moving towards arming myself with that knowledge.
