Rock a bye baby on the tree top
When the wind blows the cradle will rock
Mama’s waiting for you baby
Holding both a romper and a frock
Which one will she use she’s wondering so
Will you be a girl or a boy she wants to know
Rock a bye baby on the tree top
When the wind blows the cradle will rock
Everyone’s awaiting you baby, come soon,
We’ve longed for you through many monsoons
Mama wants to hug you baby
Daddy wants to hold you in his arms too
Rock a bye baby on the tree top
When the wind blows the cradle will rock
Mama’s holding a secret in her heart
Daddy’s keeping it too
Daddy’s brother is your Daddy
Your real Daddy’s never going to know this truth
Rock a bye baby on the tree top
Mummy and Daddy hope the cradle will never rock

A desire for a baby makes people go to great lengths. Mysterious poem!
Hahah could never have seen that coming. People live with a lot of buried truths or lies.
Geez! In the end, didn’t know whether to smile or feel sad. Such secrets should be kept buried. IF the unknown is treating us good, why make it known and bring a turmoil in lives attached. Nice take, Mayuri 🙂
The lengths people go, to have ‘apna khoon’ is at times surprising.
Oh, oh. Hope Daddy’s brother never finds out. Creative take!
I loved it … as always your stories have that tadka which makes it so appetising
This was awesome Mayuri !! Loved it 🙂
Sharing the same lineage yet not their own…what a climax, Mayuri! Keeping fingers crossed that the cradle will never rock for the wrong reasons, for the sake of innocent baby!
The tale of truth and lies. Nice.
