Coming to Light

They dug until their fingers were bent and exhaustion wrapped itself around them as it lulled them to sleep. They woke up and resumed digging with new determination. Till one day their fingers pierced the earth, creating a hole that brought light in. They screamed and dodged away from what they didn’t know was sunshine. Till curiosity pulled them towards the circle of light again and they dug wider, looking at the green mountain and blue sky with wonder. The creatures that were buried underneath the earth hundreds of years ago when the world had ended were surfacing once again.
